    Met up with some friends last night for dinner. This was also my first visit to Il Basilico. I've received mailers from them over the years and was intrigued but not enough to make a visit. When arriving, I noticed the house isn't fancy, which is good from a value standpoint. It's very homey at Il Basilico. The menu contains a broad range of favorites from appetizers to pizza and beyond. My own order consisted of a small (but ample) Caesar salad which was very good. My entree was their chicken parmigiana with penne pasta covered in marinara. I believe the chicken was thinned out and breaded. The chicken and pasta were quite good. You know those mailers I mentioned? I was especially impressed with their pizza offerings. Their website tells the story of their founder who basically perfected pizza. Throughout my visit I had a sense they were slinging more pies than entrees as dozens made their way through the front door and being Monday customers bypassed at least two pizzerias selling half price pies on Mondays. Our server (seven of us, total, separate checks) was on top of her game. Prices very fair and although I finish my meal, all others in my party took home some leftovers. Pizza is next...

    My mother loves deep dish pizza/thick crust. She and I have enjoyed Il Basilico's pizza on every visit. The thick pizza is surprisingly and delightfully light. The pizza is hot, fresh, and delicious. When it comes to pizza, I am picky. I am normally not a fan of thick crust pizza, but at Il Basilico it is delicious! I take my mom to The Hallmark Store, then to Il Basilico several times a year for a sweet mother-daughter outing. The service at Il Basilico is usually pretty good but at times has been inconsistent. Occasionally, we have had an inattentive server; you know the type--inexperienced, obliviously playing with her phone or gazing into space, incapable of noticing customers' social cues. You have to ask her to wipe the table or top off your water and you end up feeling like you're rearing someone's child that wasn't socialized during lockdown. She wasn't there during our most recent visit. Overall the service is prompt, attentive, and courteous. It would be untruthful to say the service is always seamless. I have experienced extremely long wait times once in a while but on most occasions the service has been fine. Just keep in mind the service can be a gamble if you are in a hurry or dining with a senior citizen who wants to eat immediately. The wait staff always bring you delicious hot bread and this is a treat, especially if you are dining with hungry cranky kids or senior parents. I've had their pasta a few times and that's been tasty too. Worth a try.

    Excellent service at the counter by Paul today. He served me up a delicious slice of BBQ Chicken pizza and a soda with a smile.
